About me

As I mentioned on the Home page, I am an award-winning public relations/communications professional, social media manager/strategist/creator, and visual/written storyteller with over 10 years of experience in non-profit, family entertainment, sports (primarily soccer), and logistics industries.

Present day

What am I up to now? I’m glad you asked.

I’m currently a free agent searching for my next professional home after being laid off at the start of 2026.

I have a huge passion for sports and athlete marketing. As such, I returned to the sports social media world on a freelance basis in 2023 with San Diego Loyal SC (USL Championship). Since then, I have worked with a multitude of freelance clients, including San Diego FC (MLS), FC Tulsa (USL Championship), Las Vegas Lights (USL Championship), DIRECTV Soccer Champions Tour, Charleston Battery (USL Championship), Major League Soccer, and CBS Sports Golazo Network.

I am currently serving as a Digital Marketing Consultant for FIFA with the organization’s social media and editorial team, providing live and post-event coverage for FIFA World Cup 2026. At the time of writing, our team has generated over 11 billion video views since the start of the tournament and grown the FWC TikTok channel to the ninth most-followed account globally with 86.1 million followers.

In the past

I started my professional career full-time in 2017 as the Marketing Manager for Creative Works, a global fabricator of props and family entertainment attractions. I was responsible for curating content and managing Creative Works’ social media presence, securing story placements in industry publications, and developing best-practice marketing guidelines for customers.

It wasn’t long after that I made the jump to professional sports. I joined USL Championship side Indy Eleven Professional Soccer as the club’s Content Communications Manager in February 2018. During my tenure, I was considered one of the key communications professionals in the league for league-wide social media content consultation. My duties included (but were not limited to) managing content creation and strategy for Indy Eleven’s social media channels (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and TikTok); managing all pre/post-game communications (previews, recaps, match notes, graphics, and post-game press conferences); wrote, edited, published, and distributed press releases, newsletters, media guidelines, feature stories, and other club media materials; and acted at the primary first-team media relations contact.

I, along with my department head at the time, was a co-recipient of the 2020 USL Championship Media-Voted Best in Class Communications award for our work during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought the sports world (and the rest of the globe) to a grinding halt.

In March 2022, I left Indy Eleven to take on the role of Social Media & Digital Marketing Manager at Spot, Inc., a leading third-party logistics provider (3PL) headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind, after being recruited as part of a complete departmental rebuild. I managed organic and paid social media strategies and curated photo, video, graphic, and written materials across the company’s digital properties. My work resulted in a ~25% year-over-year follower growth on social media, as well as increased web traffic through improved SEO practices and redesign. I also developed and instructed company-wide social media advocacy programs that helped sales teams increase leads through LinkedIn. Unfortunately, I was laid off from this position at the end of January 2026.

Let’s get personal

I am a Hoosier through and through. I was born and raised in Franklin, Ind, where I currently reside with my wife, a rambunctious three-year-old daughter, and a budding nine-month-old son. We bought a 100-year-old house at the end of 2020 and have since dedicated all of our free time to top-to-bottom home renovations and DIY projects. Need help with drywall? Plumbing? Electrical? Building custom furniture? I can help with that, too.

I attended Indiana University Purdue University – Indianapolis (now Indiana University – Indianapolis), where I graduated with High Distinction (Top 10%) and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Japanese. I originally attended Ball State University (Chirp! Chirp!) as a Japanese Education major before transferring to IUPUI, but that’s a story for another day.

Fun facts!

  • I’ve played soccer against Iron Maiden (see me wheezing behind legendary bassist Steve Harris below)
  • I love growing and canning my own pickles, so much so that I wrote a LinkedIn article about it
